Charleston Girl!
I am so ecstatic to write that I have recently graduated from the University of Mississippi as of May 2023! I made the big decision back in February to move back to Charleston, SC. Charleston is where I spent the summer of ‘21. I worked for a wedding planner while I lived in Mount Pleasant that summer. My family and I traveled down to Charleston quite often while growing up in Richmond, VA. I had always had a gut feeling I’d love living here and I must say that feeling was correct. The summer I lived in Charleston changed everything for me. I took time that summer to be alone and get to know myself, which I find people forget to do. I believe that you have to make friends with yourself as you would get to know someone new who you just met. It sounds odd…but it’s true.
That fall, I went back to Ole Miss to start my Junior year. I often times find myself mentoring other girls who are still in school, and telling them to manage their expectations for what I call the ‘halfway done rut’ which I hit Junior year. I always joke that it must have been losing my saltwater lifeline which I had gotten so used to that summer. I luckily powered through, and knew exactly where I had to move once I got that degree!
As of currently, I am working back at Bennie & Coco on Sullivan’s Island. Katie Poole who owns the shop is probably one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met. She has already taught me so much about work ethic and owning, building, and growing a business. What a boss babe! Stop by sometime and try some on rad clothes - Katie’s also known for having what is probably the most impressive buyers eye ever (;
